Nothing Phone (3a) to Feature Snapdragon Chipset: What We Know So Far
Last week, rumors surfaced about Nothing working on three new smartphones, sparking excitement among fans. Among these, a device with model number A059, initially thought to be the Nothing Phone (3), appeared on Geekbench. However, recent findings suggest it is likely the Nothing Phone (3a).
Decoding the Models: What's in the Pipeline?
The IMEI database revealed some interesting clues. Alongside the A059 model, there is an A059P, with the "P" indicating a "Plus" variant. This aligns with Nothing's naming conventions, making it clear the A059P will be the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus.
A third model, A001, also appeared in the IMEI database. While speculation about it being the Nothing Phone (3) exists, it's more plausible this could be the CMF Phone 2, another device expected from the company.
A Shift in Chipset Strategy
The Nothing Phone (3a) is rumored to debut with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, marking a notable shift for the London-based brand. The Nothing Phone (2a) featured MediaTek's Dimensity 7200 Pro, and the (2a) Plus was powered by the Dimensity 7350 Pro. If the trend continues, the (3a) Plus is expected to receive a slight upgrade in its SoC.
Interestingly, the CMF Phone 2 may also utilize the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, suggesting Nothing's increasing inclination toward Qualcomm's ecosystem.
Software and Launch Timeline
All upcoming models are expected to launch with Android 15, staying in line with Nothing's commitment to timely software updates. The Nothing Phone (2a) was launched in March, hinting that its successor, the Phone (3a), could arrive within the next 2-3 months.
Where Is the Nothing Phone (3)?
Despite the excitement surrounding these mid-range devices, the high-end Nothing Phone (3) remains absent. Earlier this year, Nothing announced it would skip a flagship release in 2024, with plans to unveil it in 2025. This hints at a possible launch in the second half of next year.
Stay tuned as we bring you more updates on Nothing’s upcoming lineup and their official release dates.
