XRing O1: Xiaomi’s Debut High-End Mobile Chip Launching Soon
Xiaomi Confirms XRing O1: First Self-Developed High-End Chipset to Launch in Late May
In November, speculation began circulating that Xiaomi was developing its own smartphone chipset to lessen its reliance on third-party suppliers like Qualcomm and MediaTek. That speculation has now been confirmed by CEO Lei Jun.
In an official post on Weibo, Lei Jun revealed the name of the company’s first self-developed high-end mobile processor: Xuanjie O1 in China and XRing O1 for global markets. He also announced that the chip will be officially launched in late May, signaling a significant step forward in Xiaomi’s push toward in-house chip design and greater technological independence.
High-End Specs Aimed at Competing with Snapdragon
While official technical details are still under wraps, popular Chinese tech leaker Digital Chat Station claims that the XRing 01 will be manufactured on a 5nm process, putting it in line with other flagship chipsets. Rumored specs include:
- CPU configuration: 1+3+4 architecture
- 1x Cortex-X925 (up to 3.2GHz)
- 3x Cortex-A725 (up to 2.6GHz)
- 4x Cortex-A520 (up to 2.0GHz)
- GPU: Imagination Technologies GPU
- Modem: 5G connectivity powered by a Unisoc modem
If these leaks hold true, the XRing O1 could offer performance on par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a serious statement from Xiaomi as it seeks to compete in the high-end silicon space.

What This Means for Xiaomi
Developing its own chip allows Xiaomi to better optimize hardware-software integration and reduce supply chain dependencies. If successful, XRing 01 could pave the way for a new generation of Xiaomi flagship devices powered entirely by in-house technology.
Stay Tuned
More details, including real-world performance and device compatibility, will be revealed during the official launch event later this month. Until then, all rumored specs should be taken with caution.
