Robi and Airtel Roaming in Over 70 Countries Pay in Bangladeshi Taka

Robi Makes Overseas Mobile Communication Faster & Easier
Robi has made mobile communication during foreign travel faster and more convenient. From now on, Robi and Airtel roaming services will be available in over 70 countries, with payment directly in Bangladeshi Taka.

Travelers can purchase roaming packs directly from their main balance in Bangladeshi Taka while abroad. The packs can be bought easily through the “My Robi” and “My Airtel” apps—no credit card or international payment is required.

The official launch of the service took place on Thursday at Robi’s corporate office. It was announced that customers can purchase their roaming packs before their trip, but the pack will only activate upon arrival at the destination.

Shihab Ahmad, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Robi Axiata PLC, said:

“Our new roaming packs offer more data, enhanced features, and the most competitive prices in the market. It’s the smartest choice for travelers—featuring affordable data bundles, combo offers, and Asia-special packs. Activating the service is simple through the ‘My Robi’ and ‘My Airtel’ apps.”

Shahjahan Ali, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Foreign Exchange Policy Department, said:

“We welcome Robi’s initiative. Our goal is to make overseas transactions for Bangladeshi citizens easier and more transparent. This local currency roaming purchase option aligns with that goal, making travel simpler and reducing dependence on international payments. It’s a major step forward for Bangladesh’s telecom sector.”

Also present at the event were Bangladesh Bank’s Joint Director Muhammad Moniruzzaman Moni, Deputy Director Farzana Rahman, and Robi Axiata PLC officials including Chief Corporate & Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam, Chief People Officer Muhammad Shoaib Baig, and Head of Marketing Shawkat Kader Chowdhury.

How to Use the Roaming Pack:
With a valid passport, visa, and travel ticket (if required), customers can easily buy roaming packs through the “My Robi” and “My Airtel” apps.

Maximum limit per trip: BDT 6,000

Maximum limit per year: BDT 30,000
